Twitter and Teaching

Twitter and blog share a lot of similarities; they are both good platforms for interaction between teacher and students, among students and between the class and the society.
For me, blog is more suitable for posting some deep analysis toward a topic, while twitter is more appropriate for short prompt comment or opinions. For example, I may use twitter as a tool to collect students’ responses to my teaching. If they feel boring or feel difficult to follow me in class, they can post their feelings on twitter, then I can know it and record it for further adjustment of my teaching plan. Moreover, sharing links of useful material or student’s excellent homework on twitter is also a good idea, I think it is more directly perceived than blog. Many other good suggestions of using twitter in teaching are provided in an article named “Teacher’s Gide to the use of twitter inclassroom” and “Twitter---Expanding our Classroom---Shrinking the World”. In addition, twitter can also be an archive for parents to follow their children’s development.
In a word, twitter is a useful tool to engage students and enhance interaction, which I will try to use in my future teaching.
